Laser Micromachining

Objectifs du cours

This course is primarily aimed at introducing the basic concepts of laser micromachining and allowing participants to appreciate the practical elements involved in undertaking laser micromachining tasks. It is suitable for those with a basic interest in microsystems, MEMS and general micro-manufacturing and does not require a deep knowledge of mathematics or physics. The course includes numerous videos and examples of high precision laser micromachining.

The course is aimed at engineers, technical managers and those interested in gaining a wider understanding of laser micromachining systems, techniques and applications.

Dr. Nadeem Rizvi from Laser Micromachining Limited, UK. Dr. Nadeem Rizvi is an experienced laser physicist and is the co-founder and Managing Director of Laser Micromachining Limited, a company specialising in the provision of laser manufacturing services to industry. Dr. Rizvi obtained a Ph.D. at Imperial College (University of London) in the development of novel femtosecond solid-state lasers. He has held senior research positions at the Central Laser Facility of the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (UK), the Institute of Optics (Madrid) and the Optoelectronics Research Centre (University of Southampton, UK). Dr. Rizvi was also a member of the senior technical staff at Exitech Limited (Oxford, UK) from 1994 to 2003, where he was responsible for the development of numerous laser micromachining techniques and applications.
