It is with deep sadness that the FSRM announces the sudden passing of its director, Philippe Fischer, on August 8, just weeks before he was to hand over his position on September 1 to his successor, Sebastian Gautsch.
His commitment greatly contributed to the reputation of the FSRM, notably through pioneering initiatives, including the development of continuing education courses in the field of microtechnology, as well as the FSRM-Kids project—an initiative aimed at inspiring young people to take an interest in science and technology.
Having joined the FSRM 35 years ago, Philippe Fischer held various positions before becoming director. Through his vision and energy, he strengthened ties between academia and industry, while keeping innovation and knowledge transfer at the heart of his mission.
Known for his integrity, open-mindedness, and kindness, he leaves behind at the FSRM – and in the hearts of all who knew him – the memory of a profoundly compassionate man.
The FSRM extends its profound sympathy to his family and loved ones, and shares in their sadness during this difficult time.
